Sometimes the history surrounding a location can far outweigh the paranormal activity you are searching for. This happened at Apethorpe Hall when we were invited to look around
Deep beneath the streets of Northampton are labyrinths of tunnels and adjoining cellars. Entering even the smallest of cellars is like walking back in time, into the early history of the town. Many of the buildings that have openings into the tunnel system are reputed to be haunted. During investigations this year I hope to find out if the haunting are linked to the buildings or the tunnels themselves. I will keep you posted.
Never let anyone tell you that static electricity within a building cannot cause strange affects. You could hear it, smell it and see the strange light.
Lisa, Andy and Mark investigate the roof space at a very active location.
At a secret location deep beneath the streets of Northampton investigations began to answer questions of why the location was haunted. A story of tunnels and bodies being walled up had been told for centuries, but was there any truth to the claims? We decided to find out. With permission from the owner we began to drill through the walls to see what was on the other side. After hours of work we slid the cameras through the holes created. What we found surprised all of us. After this location has been fully investigated we will move onto the next, and who knows what we will find. What did we find behind the walls? That’s one of the stories for book 4.
Apethorpe Hall.
Located on the edge of the Northamptonshire border towards Peterborough, Apethorpe is a jewel set in the English countryside. It has seen more royalty pass through its doors than most houses of a similar age. And does it have a ghost? There is a legend that a Lady haunts the house. I can’t go into more detail at the moment as I am still researching the history and putting the story together. English Heritage is restoring the property and kindly gave us permission to wander through the vast corridors and rooms to see if there was any substance to the tales of ghostly going on. I am not going to tell you how we got on, or what we found on our visit. All I will say is thank you to Pete Smith of English Heritage for his help and assistance during the visit. If you would like to see inside this beautiful house and learn about its importance as part of our heritage here is the website. www.english-heritage.org.uk/apethorpehall
